Streambank Stabilization

Streambank stabilization is essentially a facet of stream restoration. However, cost-intensive stream restoration methods can be avoided in cases where streambank stabilization is used as a preventative stream restoration method. This can be accomplished in the arrest of sedimentation resultant from the erosion of compromised streambanks. Reducing sedimentation contributes to in-stream conditions which are more conducive to spawning and in general, a healthier watershed.

Our experience qualifies MRD to work on streambank stabilization projects of all size, ranging from small streams to large rivers. The customization of techniques and materials depends on variables unique to each site. The ideal approach is to provide the functionality of design with the “softest” or most natural approach possible. This is usually accomplished by incorporating site provided, rather than imported materials.
